Bungalows range from 100,000 Rupiah (U$12 in 2011) for a basic, low-season rental to 400,000 Rupiah (U$50) for a brand new accommodation. All bungalows have toilets, sinks and sweet-water showers. The newer cottages have marble--tiled, outdoor bathrooms and showers.
All bungalows have a mosquito nets (not really required during the dry seasons) and a lanai with chairs, tables and the larger ones with sofa beds.
Salabose Cottages come in many shapes and sizes - all pretty laid back - and right on the beach.
Salabose Cottages are on the quiet side of the island. Walk left from the harbor pier about ten minutes until the sand road runs out. Cidomo horse-cart rides are a delight at 50,000 Rupiah per trip. Gili Air's best cocktail bars and grilled seafood restaurants are a 7 minute pedal or 12 minute beach walk away.
 Enjoy the fire dancing at night. It can take your breath away.

Bali Speedboat Transfers

Gili Air is a jewel. Hopefully eco-
tourism and eco-conservation efforts will protect the island as tourism increases. Gili Air boasts a charity-built island school, medical clinic, mosque, communications tower with broadband access, island generator and a thriving harbor.
Growing problems do exist. The damaged coral reefs need to regrow. At the island's surf break, there's been 10 meters of beach erosion over the last three years.
A 21% tourist tax (identical to Gili Trawangan's tax) is needed for infrastructure including desalination and solar power (vs. a new island diesel generator). The creation of eco-jobs that export products, like bones with exquisite carvings created by electric carving tools, is essential. Or low entry-cost services like massage therapy - two hands, coconut oil and licensed training - make it easy for locals to start a business. Fire dancers paid to delight bungalow beach parties is another job suitable for local workers.
